Your electric file is one of your most valuable tools. Taking proper care of it is essential to keep it performing safely, smoothly, and efficiently. A few simple habits can make all the difference.
1. Set the Speed to Zero Before Turning On or Off
Always turn the RPM (speed) down to zero before switching your drill on or off.
This small step prevents the motor from starting or stopping too suddenly, which helps protect it from unnecessary strain or damage.
2. Keep Your Drill and Accessories Clean
A clean workspace shows professionalism and that includes your tools.
For the drill: Wipe it down with a soft, dry, or slightly damp cloth. Avoid acetone or harsh cleaners that can damage the casing. A mild alcohol-based cleaner is fine just don’t get the device wet.
For the bits: Make sure to clean the electric files bits correctly. Always clean your e-file bits thoroughly, using disinfection or sterilization methods that are suitable for the type of bit.
3. Never Change Bits While the Drill Is Running
Always turn the speed down to zero and switch the device off completely before changing bits.
If your drill uses a twist-lock system, never open it while the motor is on. Doing so can cause the bit to loosen, jam, or damage the locking mechanism.
Safe Bit Change Steps:
-
Set the RPM to zero.
-
Turn the device off.
-
Wait until the bit has stopped spinning completely.
-
Open the twist-lock system and swap the bit.
Simple, safe, and professional.
4. Don’t try to fix your device yourself!
If your nail drill suddenly stops working, it’s tempting to take a look inside to see what’s going on. But trust us, that’s not a good idea!
Once you start taking it apart, it becomes almost impossible for the supplier or manufacturer to figure out what the original issue was. Even worse, opening the device yourself usually voids your warranty because it’s then considered user damage!
So what should you do instead? Reach out to the store or manufacturer where you bought your device. In many cases, the problem is much easier to fix than you think. Leave it to the experts so your warranty stays valid and you’ll have a perfectly working drill back in your hands before you know it.
Proper care keeps your e-file running safely and smoothly. Clean it regularly, handle it correctly, and leave repairs to the experts for long-lasting performance.
