Here are our top pro-approved tips to get the most out of your builder gel application:
1. Always Use Pro Base
Before applying your cover builder base, lay down a thin layer of Pro Base.
This creates the perfect foundation and ensures maximum retention for long-lasting results.
2. Bubble? No problem
If you notice a bubble in your gel while working, don't panic. Simply dip a thin liner brush (we recommend Kohana Brush NO.4 or No.8) into Cleaner no.2, then gently pop and smooth it out before curing.
3. Use your desk light as a guide
Lighting isn’t just for great photos, it’s a critical tool for sculpting structure.
Use your lamp to reflect the light line along the nail. This helps you spot high or low points and ensures your gel levels perfectly.
Bonus: a clean light line also means your nail photos will look amazing on social media.
4. Use a liner brush
Soft builder gel is self-levelling, but a liner brush gives you total control.
Use Brush No.8 to move the product exactly where you want it, especially around the cuticle and sidewalls. This helps you build a clean, even structure.
5. Don’t skip the slip layer
The slip layer is a thin, uncured coat of soft gel applied before your builder bead and it’s essential for smooth application.
It allows the gel to self-level evenly, helping you guide the product with precision. Apply a thin slip layer, don’t cure, and float your bead over it. The result? A flawless, even structure with minimal effort.
